Costly Grace. First Gifts. A Holy Beginning.
The first thing we give always reveals what we believe.
First Fruits is not about leftovers.
It is not about convenience.
It is not about what remains after everything else has been handled.
It is about honor.
To bring first is to say:
“Before I secure myself, I trust God.”
“Before I calculate outcomes, I believe the promise.”
“Before I see the harvest, I acknowledge the Source.”
First Fruits is not transactional—it is theological.
Grace that costs nothing changes nothing.
But grace that calls us to bring our first—that kind of grace reshapes the soul.
When we give first, we are not buying blessing.
We are aligning ourselves with heaven’s order.
We do not deny the struggle.
We do not erase the sacrifice.
We do not minimize the courage it takes to give when the world keeps telling us to hoard.
But faith has always required a holy boldness.
To place the first gift on the altar is to declare:
“The past will not define the future.”
“Fear will not govern my faith.”
“Scarcity is not my story.”
We begin the year not clenched—but open.
Not grasping—but grateful.
Not anxious—but anchored.
And when we give together—across generations, stories, incomes, and journeys—we bear witness that abundance is not merely personal; it is communal.
This is a holy beginning.
Not because the amount is large or small—
but because the heart is aligned.
We give because Heaven has already spoken.
We give because grace has already carried us.
We give because the future is not something we fear—it is something we faithfully enter.
First gifts.
Costly grace.
A year set apart.
To God be the glory.
Amen.
