What Is First Fruits?

“First Fruits is one of the two great anchor feasts of New Unity’s spiritual life—moments that mark our year not by the calendar, but by covenant.”

Each January, we bring God not our leftovers, but our first and best — a sacred offering that sets the direction of our year.

It is biblical.

It is ancient.

It is revolutionary.

And it is deeply New Unity.

First Fruits flows from our Watch Night service and carries us into the new year in faith and order.

The Biblical Meaning of First Fruits

In Scripture, First Fruits was never about money — it was about priority.

It answered one question:

Who gets your first yes?

First Fruits is our communal declaration that the first yes of the year belongs to God.

At New Unity, our First Fruits offering is:

  • A declaration of trust
  • A commitment to spiritual order
  • A testimony that we begin the year in alignment with God

This is not fundraising.

This is covenant.

What Happens During First Fruits Celebration

  • A sacred gathering in worship
  • A moment of consecrated giving
  • Spoken-word, Scripture reading, and communal prayer
  • A shared pause to listen for what the Spirit is saying to the year ahead
  • A message centered on dedication and new beginnings

Pastor Golden’s annual First Fruits Word sets the tone for the journey ahead.
