Right now, children in East Africa are crying for bread. Mothers watch their little ones waste away, and fathers stand helpless as drought, flood, and war strip their families of food and hope. This is not tomorrow’s famine—it is today’s crisis.
Failed rains, violent conflicts, rising food prices, and the fallout of COVID-19 have left millions displaced and hungry. Pastoralist communities have lost their livestock, children are malnourished, and whole nations hover on the edge of famine.
At New Unity Baptist Church, we affirm that awareness alone is not enough. Our faith demands response. To hear and not act is to risk complicity. As Bonhoeffer declared: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.”
Call to Action
PRAY! GIVE! ADVOCATE! ACT!
Do not look away, for silence is complicity, but action is the Gospel lived out loud.
To follow the Lowly Man from Nazareth is to stand with the hungry and the displaced. Silence is not the way of the Kingdom. Action is.
