With each wintry turn of the calendar, we here at the New Unity Baptist Church celebrate our First Fruits Sunday on the very first Sunday of the New Year. This year (2023) the Celebration also coincided with the First Day of the New Year and the end of the Kwanzaa Festival.

New Unity's First Fruits Celebration highlights and signifies many things in our church's calendar year. First and foremost, it is worship; the single greatest purpose of the church is that the people of God might gather together and worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

We blow the Shofar (the Ram's Horn) signifying New Beginnings and then the festive Shout and shoutings begin!

Dressed and bedecked in our  white and gold - and so much more - royal  attire  we bring baskets filled with grains, oils, nuts, vegetables, fruits, and a surprise or two. Some of the items are quite novel  coming from lands both near and distant. (Pictured above is 5 year "Bear" Evans holding  a single, delicious apple that he brought as his blessed First Fruits Offering this  year).

We also bring our tithes and our sacrificial First Fruits financial gifts and offerings as well. Biblical Israel held 7 primary festivals that she honored throughout her days - Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost (Weeks), Trumpets, Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and Feast of Booths/Tabernacles (Sukkot).

Throughout the year we, too, hold several great Feast/Celebrations; we invite you and your family to come join us at any/all. You may check our website's Happenings Page for upcoming events (www.newunitybaptistchurch.org/happenings)

Our prayer for you this year is that  the promises of God found in His Holy Word be fulfilled in your  homes, lives, and communities throughout the coming year. And that you keep God First in all things.

Chosen! Royal! Holy! Peculiar!

This is excellent write up on our Frist Fruit Service. To be part of the service was Holy Ghost explosion. The message is still flowing in my spirit.
